Your lesson plan is very organized and easy to follow. If I were your substitute teacher for the day, the chances of me messing up would be quite low. In your reflections, you really did a wonderful job of attaching your lesson to the ISTE standards. Your rubric is perfectly suited to the assessment, and your exit ticket was well done. Finally, the effort you into the differentiation was outstanding. It is evident you are ready to have your own classroom already!
Where do I even start!?! It's all so wonderful! I thought the rubric was awesome and I thought it was a great touch adding the Student's Name, Date, and then the Score with the Categories of what they scored in each category listed! Super organized and easy for individual documentation! I need to take notes on how to make rubrics because yours is great!
I thought all of your differentiation was awesome! I especially loved the ELL Differentiation with the list of desert animals translated into Spanish, I thought that was fabulous! The Gifted Differentiation was such a great extension off of this assignment! I'm always afraid to extend off of the assignment with more work, but this differentiation can truly give them opportunity for creativity, interest, choice, and deepened learning! I like it! The already-made Venn diagram for students who may not feel comfortable with the interactive is also great, but I specifically like how you added that students would be asked to work in partners. As I have students who have trouble typing due to Orthopedic Impairments, and those same students refuse to use speech-to-text AT because they don't want to look different from their peers, so they will sit in class and silently struggle just so they don't have to look different until you step in with alternatives that make it easier for them. Working in pairs can help vastly for students who struggle with typing because of their Orthopedic Impairments because maybe one of them can be the scribe/stenographer, this can also help students with ADHD recall things from the story that they didn't recall beforehand because maybe the person their partnered with said something that reminded them, and this can help students with Written Expression Disorder (Also called Dysgraphia) put their ideas into writing in a focused, organized way because they have a peer to help them do so. This differentiation can help in so many other ways, but I just had to put how it was so meaningful to me! Beautiful work, Sydney! <3
Hi Sydney! I like how you explained that students understand the vocabulary terms in the introduction and open discussion in the I do section for students to ask questions about the vocabulary. It is a great strategy to integrate into the classroom for English language learners (ELL) and students with disabilities to scaffold for further understanding of the vocabulary. I also liked the integration of technology used for students to create a Venn diagram because they will be able to access it to refer to during future lessons. You did an excellent job at differentiation and offering a variety of strategies in this lesson! Thank you for sharing!
I enjoyed reading over your Micro Lesson, I appreciate how organized and clean it is! It was easy to read through. I like how you had differentiation throughout the whole lesson, and how accommodating your lesson plan was to students with different learning styles. Great job!
Hi Sydney! I love how thoughtful your lessons always are! I also love how concise and easy to follow your lesson plan is. I like how you provided them with enough scaffolding before the I do portion, so they were well prepared before starting. Good job Sydney!
Hi Sydney! This was an incredibly detailed and well thought out lesson plan. I like how you provided various open ended questions on the assessment. Rather than answer multiple choice, they would have to think critically and put thought into their answers. Your lesson plan contained many tools that would enhance the learning throughout the lesson such as the graphic organizer and tools for differentiation.
Hey Sydney! Great presentation! I enjoyed going over your lesson plan. I like how clear it is and how you added the times to each section; that would be helpful to a substitute teacher. I can tell you put much effort and time into this lesson. As a former ELL student, I think your lesson would have been one that would have been enjoyable to me. Also, I think the exit ticket is great.
